******And now, here’s the story that everyone came up with (read comments here):

——–
It was a dark and stormy night.
We heard the echo of a gunshot in the distance.
Dogs started barking from the yards in the neighborhood.

I had been enjoying a cup of tea by the fire.
My husband shot me a glance wondering what going on outside.
He got up from the comforts of the sofa and proceeded to look out the back window.

While he stood looking out the back window,
I could see bolts of lightening across the night sky.
My husband told me to come quickly to witness what he was seeing!

I raced towards him.
But in my haste, I tripped and fell.
I shouted out for help.

The wind was picking up.
The leaves were blowing off the trees.
Dark ominous clouds were forming in the distance.

I jumped up and spilled my tea on the rug.
I ran to the window and pressed me face against the cold glass.
I could see nothing but then a flash of lightening light up the yard.
There as a woman running to the house.

She was wearing thin tan leather pants.
And though I couldn’t make out much more than a shadowy figure I noticed she did not have a coat.
I wondered aloud, “Was she in trouble or was she causing the trouble?”

The woman was dragging something as she ran.
It looked liked body, but it couldn’t be.
Everytime the Lightning flashed, she got closer.

and that was when i knew exactly what it was

It was our luggage, I’d recognized that hot pink trom and zebra print anywhere.
We had come home from a weekened in Las Vegas two weeks before, you can imagine our dismay when we learned that the airline had lost it. We let out a sigh and smiled. Hopefully our secert had gone unnoticed by the airline personal we only hoped that the inside of the bags had not been searched.

My happiness quickly vanished into oblivion. I though aloud, “Who is this strange woman? Why does she have our luggage? And why is she delivering it during a midnight storm?” Something just didn’t sit well in my stomach, I didn’t like this scene…not one bit.

I decided I had to get out of there as soon as possible. What could I say that wouldn’t sound too obvious? Could I just turn around and walk away without a word?

I kept thinking to myself over and over did I miss something?
My heart started pounding in the thought that I might have.
I ran away as fast as I could to get away from it all

I waited upstairs while my husband answered the door.
The woman told him she knew what was in the bag and knew all about our secret.
I let out a gasp while my husband told her he had no idea what she was talking about.

That was when I realized I had tore my pants when I fell.
And upon closer inspection I realized that I had spilled tea not only on the rug, but on myself too.
I quickly stepped into my closet for a dry and undamaged change of clothes.

The last thing I heard before I passed out was the woman saying she took the memory card. She had taken it out of the suitcase and told my husband she wanted a hundred thousand dollars to give it back. We don’t have that kind of money, but we couldn’t let her have it.

And the plot thickens!

I knew then that leaving that thing in the suitcase was a terrible idea.
What if she had already made copies?
Paying her for it would be just futile then.

But what could I do? I just couldn’t let anyone know about…. IT! The thing that had happened in Cancun.

Those pictures of my husband and I singing in a mariachi band could NOT be released. They might ruin our careers, our lives, our futures. I began to sweat and passed out again.

The Billionaire Next Door (Silhouette Special Edition)
by Jessica Bird
Mass Market Paperback
Published in 2007

Do you ever have a book that you find yourself re-reading almost every word even if you know already what is going to happen next? Despite the fact that all the good parts are known to you, you find yourself reading it again.

If I find myself in a reading funk, I have a bookshelf corner guaranteed to get me out of it. One of these books is Jessica Bird’s The Billionaire Next Door. The last time I re-read it, it took me 3.5 hours. I broke my heart right alongside Lizzie when Sean jumps to the wrong conclusion. I heaved my happy sigh at the end. Then I stared dreamily at the cover and put it right back on my shelf for the next time.

That’s when I noticed I have an extra copy of this book. I know I go overboard about books I like, but I distinctly remember sending one copy to my sister in the Philippines, loaning another one to another sister down the street, and giving one to my friend. Now, I still have more, so I’m going to give this to one lucky winner.

I hope that you find this book to be entertaining and sweet like I do. Jessica Bird also writes as JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood. It’s a kick-ass vampire series. I can’t decide which of the brothers I like more. After I got over my hang-up about the over-peppering of H’s, like Rhage and Phury, I love it!

So, this give-away is for a different genre.

I found this meme today on my bloghop. Yeah, I got so much free time I got time to bloghop (not true, but still I like clicking links between scrubbing my floors.) Anyways, Three on Thursday goes like this. I list three things, and that’s all I need to play. So, I’m taking this oppurtunity to pick three sentences from a book called ANGELS AND DEMONS. It’s a movie with Tom Hanks coming out in the summer. I can’t wait to see this movie. It’s going to be enjoyable. This book is great too. If you haven’t read this, it’s your chance now. Contest open worldwide.

1.Physicist Leonardo Vetra smelled burning flesh, and he knew it was his own. {prologue}
2. Langdon read the plaque twice and still he was not convinced. {p354}
3. Now she was racing headlong down a precipitous grade where any misplaced step could mean a deadly fall. {p604}

To win this copy of used paperback I’ve read from before, leave a comment of your Three on Thursday of anything. It can be three things about a book, or movie, or anything that is three. You can post it in your blog and leave your link in the comment, or you can just leave your three things on the comment. I’m playing Three on Thursday today.

If you can’t think of anything, tell me which three author’s book you would like to see given away here.
